The Heritage Lottery Fund has recently awarded English Heritage a grant of £3.9 million towards the Caring for Kenwood project, the major programme of repair and conservation work which is now underway at Kenwood. Work includes critical repairs to the main house roof and exteriors, re-presentation of the stunning Robert Adam interiors, restoration of Kenwood Dairy and a new programme of education and participation.
Cheese evening at the Dairy with Patricia Michelson of
A windy but not wet evening at the Dairy saw invited guests of Kenwood Dairy Restoration Trust and English Heritage gather at the Dairy to hear Patricia Michelson give a talk about the history of English cheese-making. Patricia described how the Dairy would have been used and hinted at a couple of her favourite recipes for desserts using curds. A lucky winner of the cheesy quiz took home a signed copy of one of Patricia's books about cheese.
The serious purpose of the evening was to kickstart the fund-raising for the Dairy as part of the Caring for Kenwood project.
The Kenwood Dairy Restoration Trust has been lent a large milk churn for a year by a real Cornish farmer. We also have a barometer to show how much has been raised so far. If you would like to help fill the churn please contact us by email at firstname.lastname@example.org with ideas for events you would like to come to or hold for the Dairy.
All ideas are welcome. All donations are of course also welcome.
